Our Plans for Parenting
We are both looking forward to small daily rituals, like sitting down to family meals, bath time and reading bedtime stories. As our son or daughter grows up, we look forward to camping trips, carving Halloween pumpkins and visits to Ruth’s family in Switzerland and Julie’s sister and brother-in-law in New York. We plan to visit Mumbai, so that Julie and the baby get to know the extraordinary place Ruth grew up, and Nicaragua, so Ruth and the baby experience the warmth of Julie’s friends there.
We both plan to take time off when the baby comes and hope that at least one of us can work part-time after we return to our jobs. While we both take satisfaction from our work, we now have the luxury of slowing down our lives and making family a priority.
Our Home
We live in a cozy, two-bedroom house with a huge back yard in a friendly San Francisco neighborhood. We are city girls who thrive on San Francisco’s artistic and cultural richness and its distinctive neighborhoods. We think living in a diverse area is a perfect place to raise kids because they will grow up comfortable with all kinds of people and cultures. We are also lovers of natural beauty and make frequent escapes to nearby beaches and parks.
Our home reflects our travels. The walls are covered with artwork from India, Switzerland and Latin America, and, hopefully soon, our child’s drawings.
